We had no plates and no real utensils, except plastic forks from the restaurants. This is a italian ciabatta bread with olive tapenade served on a paper napkin, and caprese salad in stainless steel mixing bowl. A comedian once made a joke about how he was raped by the prices of this grocery store called, "Whole Foods". I thought it was pretty funnny at first, until tonight... I shopped at Whole Foods and I GOT RAPED. I bought just a handful of goods, and the bill was nearly hitting $40s !!! #&#*^$ GRR I could have gotten the same amount of stuff at Food Basics in Toronto for 20 dollars or less. Anyways!! Anger aside.. here's my version of the caprese salad. Fresh buffalo mozzo cheese. Plum tomatoes English cucumbers EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) Pesto made with cilentro & lime juice. Basil The spin off of this classical italian dish, if you haven't noticed, is that I used pesto made from cilentro and lime. The basil was just chiffonade into the final salad to heighten the freshness. Cilentro & Lime pesto. Brilliant or what?! Finally.. a BED!! 07/03/2010
I have to thank both my roomates and her parents who spent nearly half the day driving around town to help me find a bed. I never knew finding a bed was THIS difficult and time consuming, but none the less, it was an fun experience. We ending up getting a mattress at this funiture shop called, "Coopers" and we tied the mattresses onto the roof of the Rav4 with strings, then drive ALL the way back to our appartment with it. It was such a hot day and we've been out all morning and afternoon shopping for our general house products that on our way home we decided to treat ourselves to a local ice cream shop called, " Bobtail Ice cream". Awesome, awesome home made ice cream shop, the flavours are constantly changing and it's always fresh. It's a must try if you're an ice cream lover. I mean, who isn't ?? The City of Chicago 07/03/2010
What an amazing view of the city of Chicago. I secretly snapped a shot while our plane was circling the sky to get low enough to land. After 2-3 shots, I heard a strange, unfamiliar beeping sound and I looked up only to see a sign lid up. “Turn of all electronics” Oh crap, they were onto me for sure. lol. Today marks the first day of my 180 days in Chicago, and the begining of my 24 weeks of enrollment for the Chicago French Pastry School. Am I excited?? Yeah sure, but just not about the $30,000 USD that I will be spending over the next 6 months. I wish myself LUCK! = |
